Browndown Point, located between Lee-on-the-Solent and Gosport, is a beach backed by a broad area of military property. The beach overlooks the Solent, which is the channel between mainland England and the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight is visible in the distance, about 4 miles away. Browndown Point Beach spans over a mile and is lightly attended overall, and the middle part is frequented by a small number of nudists.

From the parking lot, go to beach, turn right and walk west. You'll quickly encounter a fence that goes across the beach almost to the water line, but it is okay to go around it. Continue beyond the fence 1/4 mile farther and you will see a large concrete structure on the beach. This structure has a distinct mushroom shape. This landmark roughly marks the start of the accepted nude area. Standing at this point and looking down the beach, you'll see a hill-like embankment near the waterline about 1/4 mile farther west. That embankment marks the end of the nude area. Although nudity seems well accepted (though not officially allowed), there are usually just a handful of bare bathers.
