The beautiful beach at the base of Abbot's Cliff is toward the western end of the storied White Cliffs of Dover. This beach extends almost a mile. It is easily accessed on its east end through Samphire Hoe seaside park. Access from the west requires a hike down the cliff face from Capel-le-Ferne. (You could also walk all the way from Folkestone following the easy shoreline path, but it is a walk of over two miles.) Nude bathing is well established at the beach, but nudist attendance—and overall attendance—is sparse.
The beach is divided into two parts by a headland of sorts. These two areas are cut off from one another at high tide. Nudity occurs mostly toward the middle of the beach on either side of the headland, but the western side, which is out of view of Samphire Hoe, is more private. Although an anti-nudity law has reportedly been enforced at other area beaches, nudists seem to be left alone here.
