The long beach of Sandwich Bay provides ample space for nude bathers. From the pinpointed parking area, the beach extends northward about 2.3 miles and ends at the mouth of the River Stour at Pegwell Bay, and nudity is possible along most of this stretch. Because the beach is uncrowded and nudity is not officially authorized (meaning no signage), there is not a definitive point where the nude area starts. Going north about 15 minutes from the parking area should be adequate. If in doubt, keep walking until you encounter nudists or until you've put a buffer zone between yourself and the last of the textiles.

The beach is backed by a vast golf course, and there has historically been some hostility toward nudists from golfers. However, complaints have arisen when golfers can see nudists, and this is easily avoidable. There are low dunes and tall grass between the golf course and the beach, so nudists on the beach are entirely out of view of the golf course. As long as nudists stick to the beach side and avoid going inland to the point where they are visible from the golf course, they are out of sight and out of mind. Those who are naked within sight of the golf course can prompt calls to the police.

En route to this beach, you will pass through the exclusive enclave of Sandwich Bay. The roads through this enclave are considered private, and non-residents must pay a fee (about £5) to pass through. Other than the given directions, the only route to Sandwich Bay is via a minor road that follows the coast north from Deal, and there is also a toll both coming from that direction. The required toll, the lack of an official designation and the somewhat tense relationship with the neighboring golf course have all served to minimize attendance. Nudists are typically few in number and can be very spread out.
