Mindalong beach is a legal free beach located on the western end of Ocean Drive in WA's second city, Bunbury. With a population of over 30,000 people and growing rapidly, Bunbury has good beaches and accommodation, a cappuccino strip with restaurants & cafes and has a developing wine industry close by in the Fergusson Valley. Less than 2 hours drive south of Perth, it is also a great jumping-off point for the South West beaches and wineries. The section of Mindalong beach designated as clothing-optional is located behind Maidens Reserve, some 4km south of the town centre, along the beach front. Backed by high sand dunes the free beach is 200m long with plenty of space even at high tide. The beach shelves moderately but is reasonably flat below the low-tide mark. The beach and water are clean and swimming is great.
