Nudity occurs with some discretion in the area between Winterton and Horsey. You can approach from either end, either on the beach or the path that runs behind the dunes.

The distance between the two pinpointed parking areas is 3.3 miles (i.e., by foot along the beach). The southern parking is beachside parking at Winterton. The northern parking, which is close to the beach but not directly on it, is called Horsey Gap, and "gap" refers to the break in the dunes straight ahead from the parking lot that allows vehicular access to the beach (for official vehicles, presumably; you can't drive there yourself). There are three other such gaps (all pinpointed with blue flags) between Horsey and Winterton (not counting Horsey Gap itself), the these gaps are useful landmarks for finding your way. The northern of these is 3/4 mile south of Horsey Gap. The southern gap is 1.3 miles north of Winterton parking. There is also a gap between these two, roughly halfway between the two parking lots, but it appears to be in a state of disuse.

The nude area can be very broadly defined as the area between the northern and southern of the pinpointed gaps. In other words, regardless of where you park, you should walk until you reach a gap before disrobing. However, since attendance here is light, it may still be difficult to determine whether you are there yet, but the "there" in this case is very spread out. Most nude sunbathing occurs in the dunes, out of view of occasional passersby on the beach.

While nudity on the open beach is far less common than nudity in the dunes, it does sometimes occur. However, nudists on the open beach are advised to cover up when textiles approach. Seals are a common sight on this beach, and Horsey Gap is a popular seal viewing area.
