As the time this is being written, this beach is in a state of naturist limbo. The beach between the two flag placemarks (i.e., the two that are pinpointed directly on the beach) is a stretch of about 1/2 mile of private land wedged between public land on either end. The northern half of this private stretch (roughly indicated by the red line) has been visited by nudists for years, with a sort of informal nod from the landowner, who didn't mind nudists but stopped short of allowing signage to be erected, perhaps not wanting to draw undue attention. Unfortunately, indiscreet activity has apparently prompted the police to butt in, asking the owner to disallow use of the beach altogether, which the owner apparently agreed to. To the best of our understanding, the police seem to have authority to order people off the beach. (We presume it is still acceptable to stroll through near the water line.) We don't know the frequency or consistency of this enforcement. A few nudists still visit, often sunning discreetly in the dunes rather that out in the open. If you wish to take your chances and visit this beach, we recommend that you cover up if you see textiles, and don't be naked outside of the traditional nude area, which begins about 1/3 mile north of where you park. A drainage tunnel is a prominent landmark that marks the north end of the traditional nude area.
