Whitford Sands is the northern of the two large west-facing beaches at the end of the Gower Peninsula. The other beach, Rhossili, is beyond a headland to the south. Rhossili Beach is easily accessed by two huge seaside parking areas. This is, of course, where all the textiles go. Whitford Sands, on the other hand, is relatively off the beaten path and requires more effort to reach.

Whitford Sands is roughly 3 miles long, and the access trail (drawn in green) takes you approximately to the center of the beach. The area to the south of the access trail abuts two caravan parks and is thus textile only. The area north of the access trail, extending toward the pinpointed lighthouse, is secluded and suitable for nudity. Nudists typically gather about 1/2 mile north of the end of the access trail, with ample buffer zones between both the access trail and the lighthouse. There is typically only a scattering of nude bathers, many of whom seek shelter in the dunes for extended sunbathing. Nudity on the open beach should be practiced with some discretion. Cover up if textiles pass. If you want to take a naked stroll, take a covering and go north, not south.

Nudity may also take place at nearby Rhossilli Beach, particularly at the far north end. While Rhossilli draws crowds of textiles, they usually do not occupy the entire length (nearly 3 miles) of the beach. However, the general consensus seems to be that nudity is safer and better established at Whitford Sands, where encounters with textiles are less frequent.
