The beach bordering the caravan park at Crakaig is about a mile long, and the curvature of the land divides it into two distinct areas: the longer eastern part of the beach faces southeast, and the shorter western part of the beach faces southwest. In 2004, the owner of the caravan park decided to drum up business by allowing nude use on the western part of the beach, the length of which is drawn by the red line. Despite some initial publicity, it does not seem that this beach has ever drawn a significant number of nudists. This is the far north of Scotland, after all, where the average daily high temperature at the hottest time of the year (late July and early August) is merely 19°C (66°F). You may have the beach to yourself.

The west end of the beach is formed by the mouth of a small river. If you hike upstream along the river just a few hundred yards, you'll reach the railway. The river passes under an arched stone railway bridge. Just beyond the bridge, there is a series of pools in the river that are private enough for skinnydipping, if you can handle the cold.

The caravan park is quite primitive, and it should be noted that nudity is allowed only on the beach, not amidst the caravan sites.
