Ardeer Beach is a little-visited beach that extends about 2 miles. Textile attendance is very light since there is another beach immediately north, closer to town and with convenient parking. Ardeer Beach is backed by an industrial area with a lot of defunct buildings, and the only access to the beach is at its far north end. (The south end of the beach is at the mouth of the River Irvine. There was recently a museum near the south end of the beach accessed via a footbridge over the river mouth, but the museum and the footbridge are now closed, so there is no longer beach access from the south.) Ardeer Beach is well established as a nude beach, but attendance is fairly light. Although there are some reports of nudists strolling the entire length of the beach, this seems uncommon. Most nudists tend to gravitate toward the center of the beach, leaving an ample buffer zone.

If you start from the parking lot on the jetty, the beach begins about 1/3 mile to the south. If you park in the informal parking area, you can cut out most of that distance. Once you access the far north end of the beach, continue south about 300 yards and note the Rabbie Burns mural (pinpointed) on the retaining wall. Continue south about 1/3 mile farther and you'll reach a long pile of rocks against the retaining wall. These rocks are the generally accepted start of the nude area, which extends about as far as you'd care to walk.
