Brittas Bay is the name of a long beach (pinpointed with the green paddle placemark) that is one of the most popular beaches (textile, that is) in Ireland. In summer, Dubliners flock to the beach, which is 65 kilometers south of Ireland's capital. A headland called Mizen Head separates Brittas Bay from the next beach to the south, where this placemark is pinpointed. Technically, the southern beach seems to be named Buckroney, but hardly anyone calls it that. The beach south of Mizen Head is commonly called Brittas Bay as well. We'll refer to it as Brittas Bay South.

While Brittas Bay proper, which is served by large parking lots, can be packed with textiles, Brittas Bay South is virtually deserted due to limited and inconspicuous access options. The beach is over 2 kilometers long, and nudists have long gathered near the south end. Nudists tend to stay in the area of the beach where there is fencing on the dunes, leaving buffer zones on both sides. Although nudity is not officially allowed (nor is it on any beach in Ireland), this is generally regarded as the most established nude beach in the country. Don't expect throngs of people, though. Sunny weekends may draw a few dozen bare bathers.
