Conanicut Island is a small island (just a few miles wide and about 9 miles long) in Narragansett Bay between the Rhode Island mainland and Newport. There are occasionally nude sunbathers in the secluded, rocky coves beneath the steep cliffs near the very southern tip of Conanicut Island in Beavertail State Park. You may encounter a handful of nude men on summer weekends. At other times, you may have the place to yourself. This scenic area affords wonderful views. Cops do patrol the area, mainly looking for lewd behavior, and do not turn a blind eye to mere nudity. Cops will at least issue verbal warnings to nudists but have the authority to write tickets.
