Einer der wenigen Plätze an Ostfrieslands Nordseeküste (genauer Emsmündung) die frei zugänglich sind (ohne Kurtaxe). Der Strand gehört zum Naturschutzgebiet Außenems. Somit unterliegt er Restriktionen. In Kurz: Nur das Betreten des Strandes ist erlaubt, das Wasser bzw. das Watt sind tabu. Letzeres wird aber so ziemlich von jedem ignoriert. Immerhin darf man somit am Strand liegen und die Sonne genießen. Die Mehrzahl der Besucher gehört zur Textilfraktion. Die FKK-Anhänger sind mehr am Ende zu finden. Man sollte gut zu Fuß sein, da die nächste Parkmöglichkeit über einen Kilometer entfernt ist.
