This jewel of a swimming hole on Battle Creek south of Rapid City, sometimes called "Hippie Hole," is reported to have been a skinnydipping site since the 60's, and it is not widely known except to locals. The swimming hole is formed by a small waterfall that trickles over huge slabs of rock in this picturesque setting. There are also other small swimming holes along the creek. Anti-nudity hassles seem unlikely at this remote location, which is lightly used. Mount Rushmore is but five miles away (as the crow flies, that is), so this would make a great side trip if you visit the famous memorial. Nudity is sporadic, and you may have the place to yourself. It is probably best to be discreet in the presence of textiles.

Be advised that the climb down is a bit strenuous, so a certain level of physical fitness is required. It is imperative to wear sturdy shoes, and the trail can be very slippery and treacherous when wet. Pack lightly; take no more than what you can fit into a backpack.
