Padre Island is a long barrier island that stretches over 100 miles toward Mexico. The best known nude beach on Padre Island is at it the southern end of the island, near the town of South Padre Island. However, the north end of Padre near Corpus Christi also gets some nude use.

When you reach the end of the short access road to North Beach, driving along the beach is permitted to the north, but not to the south. Walk south past the "Beach Closed to Motor Vehicles" sign for at least a mile or maybe more, depending on the crowd when you visit, until you are well out of sight of textiles. Once you've put some distance between yourself and the textile crowd, nudity is generally considered acceptable. This part of the beach is lightly visited, and nude bathers have plenty of room to spread out. Rangers do patrol the beach, and, while it is reported that they tend to leave nude bathers alone on this remote stretch of the beach, it is still wise to cover up if you see a ranger until he or she has passed.

The beach north of the pinpointed parking placemark also sees some nude use in more remote areas away from textiles. Driving is permitted along this portion of the beach, and most of this area is outside the national seashore boundary, so it is patrolled by local police. Cops are not likely to turn a blind eye to nudity, so we don't particularly recommend disrobing in the off-roading area. The southern end of the beach that is closed to vehicles provides a much quieter nude beach experience where you are far less likely to be hassled.

There are no amenities or services at North Beach. Park amenities are located at Malaquite Beach, which is several miles farther south, past the toll booth.
