In Monterey Bay between Santa Cruz and Monterey, there in an uninterrupted beach that extends for several miles in the Aptos/Rio del Mar area and is segmented into the state beaches New Brighton, Seacliff, Manresa and Sunset. Trestle Beach is the informal name (not on maps) given to a small area in the center of this miles-long beach. Nude sunbathing occurs here, but for the most part nudity is confined to the dunes behind the beach.

Crowds are small, with just a handful of bare bodies on the warmest days. Nudity is not as openly practiced or accepted here as at other Santa Cruz area beaches. There are beachcombers and other wanderers from the textile beaches both north and south of Trestle that pass through, and rangers from adjacent Manresa Beach to the south sometimes patrol this area.

As long as nudity occurs out of sight in the dunes, there should be no problem, and rangers apparently do not go looking for nude sunbathers who are not visible from the open beach. If you decide to be naked out in the open, you should do so only when no textile visitors are within sight and with a covering handy.
