Red Rock Beach, so named for the beautiful reddish-orange color of the cliffs, is Marin County's most popular nude beach, drawing a fun, free-spirited, laid-back crowd. It's popular with a diverse crowd, and the vast majority of beachgoers shed all their clothes.

The beach is just a quarter-mile long and fills up quickly on summer weekends, when it draws 200 or more people. Finding parking or a place to put your towel down can be a problem. Some warm weekdays draw crowds of 100 or more. Swimming and surfing are popular, although the water is always chilly. Frisbee and other games are also popular, which has caused some visitors to complain that frisbee players take up a lot of room on the already overcrowded beach. As might be expected from such a popular place, it draws its share of gawkers. Still, Red Rock Beach remains much loved (the crowds keeping coming back, after all), but a weekday visit might be best in summer if you don't like crowds. Beware of poison oak along the trail.
