The riverbank beach near the Mad River Hatchery attracts small crowds—perhaps 25 on warm days—and sees increased use when the nearby coastal beaches are fogged in. There are large sandbars along the riverbank for nude sunning, and swimming is also possible in the cool river. While most nudists gather about 0.75-mile upstream from (i.e., south of) the hatchery, you may also encounter nude bathers at other points both upstream and downstream from the hatchery.
