This site on the North Fork of the American River has a well-established nude tradition. It is mostly a gay beach, but occasional straight couples visit as well. The cool, calm water is great for skinnydipping. The site is undeveloped, so there are no facilities or services.

While nudity has traditionally not been a problem here, there have been arrests for lewd behavior. Officers apparently will not issue citations for nudity unless they receive complaints, and complaints are unlikely as long as there is no nudity along the trails.

Looking upstream from the nude beach, you'll have a unique and beautiful view of the graceful, arched old highway bridge (now a pedestrian bridge) in the foreground and the modern, high-span Foresthill Bridge (one of the highest in the world) in the background.
